friday night I went to a salad party - everyone brings a salad and that's dinner! I got to see all my ex co-workers so that was fun. plus lots of great food. the only good photo was the harassment of the family pooch. I really need to take the class on how to use my new camera...
saturday night we went to the Navy Ball down in Chicago. It was nice.. we danced a few times and got to see some friends we hadn't seen in a while
we were in a ballroom at a country club. I loved the chandeliers - they reminded me of the big one in the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
we got a kick out of the wine they were serving with dinner. there was a full bottle left at our table so I brought it home to send to Cindy. she'll get a laugh out of it
cool table decorations
sunday we went to an apple picking place and scored more honey crisp apples and some apple cider doughnuts. I got to feed and pet the goats and we took the usual hammy tourist shots
this little train that the kids were all riding was made out of a lawn tractor.... very clever
driving back, we went along the shore of lake michigan. when Mom comes to visit I'll have to take her to see that area. she loves herself some lighthouses
we had our first freeze saturday night... the coleus and calladiums thought it sucked
the birch and other tree in front are in a frenzy to get un-green
the locals are crazily fishing for something... probably time for those big ass jumping salmon we had last year
fall is certainly here... seems early for this much cold... damn you global warming!
chance of flurries this am and rain all the rest of the day

what a great weekend! you clean up purty darn good, there, spit....
oh, did you score any good salad recipes? i'm always on the lookout....
Love the slide show and could eat off salads...my all time favs.
@tialoca_talks - although the salads were tasty, there wasn't anything so spectacular that I asked for the recipe. Lots of people brought tuna or potato ones. I made a chinese chicken salad and it was pretty popular. I should have asked you before I made mine - you would have come up with something awesome-er I'm sure
Cheesy tourist shots in Wisconsin? Who'd of thunk it. hee hee
Glad you had fun at the Navy Ball.
love the photos - you look beautiful
@i_korn - did you notice I was wearing that lovely shawl that you brought me from England? it was perfecto with my dress!
All spiffed up
Apple orchards - one of the things I miss about living in the Midwest, or Appalachians for that matter. Guess they just don't survive the heat down here
